PixName.exe 1.11

Most digital cameras and other digital devices generate filenames with very little, if any, picture-related information. Using application-specific captions can help, but such captioned are not always available when the pictures are emailed.
Replacing the synthetic filenames with filenames which are meaningful to the users makes accessing pictures simpler and, since this is done at Windows level, the resulting information is not linked to any application. Managing pictures becomes easier since filenames can tell what the pictures represent, and this information is available to all Windows applications. Pictures named this way can be easily searched by general-purpose indexing programs.
PixName makes renaming less tedious than if done directly at Windows level or by Windows Explorer. PixName displays the pictures while ther are renamed, it allows to rename a number of pictures at the same time, it remembers previous names and provides one-click shortcuts for often-used items. By adding a number before the filename PixName allows to determine - and to modify - the order of pictures in a folder. PixName thus helps to organize picture folders, and allows to move pictures between folders.
With the appropriate applications, meaningful filenames can be used as captions in slide shows. PixName can generate slide show files for AnixSoft MySlideShow (to be purchased separately). The slide shows generated by PixName display both the picture folder, as a slide-show title, and the picture filename as a caption. These slide show files do not interfere with picture enhancement applications since they simply contain the filenames of pictures and do not copy the pictures into their own folders.
Version 1.1 includes multi-language support.
